Established in 2001, DHDS Pty Ltd is a veteran-owned and operated Australian company specialising in deep hole drilling for various engineering applications. With over two decades of experience, we have grown from two machines to nine, serving a diverse range of industries including aviation, mining, defence and engineering. Our advanced CNC and conventional machines handle diameters from 2mm to 130mm and depths up to 7 metres. We take pride in providing precision drilling services tailored to our clients’ needs, ensuring high-quality results. DHDS is ISO 9001 certified, reflecting our commitment to delivering excellence in every project.

Our Copper Cored Cathode Bars (CCCBs) are manufactured and undergo strict quality control to meet the high standards required in smelting operations. We ensure precision engineering, optimal fit and superior performance, providing smelters with reliable and durable components that support efficient and long-lasting operations.
Precision Manufacturing
We manufacture CCCBs with a precise clearance fit between copper inserts and steel bars, ensuring accuracy within a 0.10 to 0.20mm tolerance for maximum performance in smelting applications.

Australasian Smelter Services and Supply (ASSS) emerged from Deep Hole Drilling Specialists Pty Ltd, originally focused on deep hole drilling. Through a process of enterprise-driven growth, the company expanded into smelting solutions, producing Copper Cored Cathode Bars (CCCBs) for major smelters. As operations grew, ASSS became the exclusive provider of cast iron rodding for Australian smelters, further enhancing its industry presence. With the introduction of copper recovery and recycling, the company advanced its sustainability efforts, ultimately rebranding to expand its global smelter support operations.

DHDS Pty Ltd was established with two modified machines to undertake deep hole drilling.
Commenced cathode-related operations with a trial production of Copper Insert Cathode Bars (CICBs) for Alcoa Portland using Australian 1006 Grade Steel.
Began production of fully finished CICBs for Alcoa Portland and Point Henry smelters using Australian steel.
Started cathode sealing for cathode block assemblies for both Portland and Point Henry. Became the sole supplier of Ready-To-Use cathode blocks to Australian Alcoa smelters.
Initiated production of CICBs for four Rio Tinto Alcan-Pacific Aluminium smelters.
Founded Cathode Bar Metal Recovery Pty Ltd (CBMR Pty Ltd), specializing in the separation and recovery of copper and steel from spent CICBs.
Established Australasian Smelter Services and Supply Pty Ltd (ASSS Pty Ltd) to group smelter support activities under a single brand.
Installed and commissioned two ABB IRB8700-800kg payload robots to enhance the processing of cathode/collector bars, significantly increasing productivity and improving safety protocols.
